President Bush signed legislation which provides up to 13 weeks of extended unemployment insurance benefits for those who have exhausted a regular unemployment claim. A notice giving filing instructions will be mailed to those individuals who may qualify. The Missouri Regional Claims Centers are now accepting applications for these extended benefits. The initial application for extended benefits must be filed by telephone through a Regional Claims Center. The Regional Claims Centers are taking applications between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Due to the anticipated volume of telephone calls, you may experience a wait to speak with a representative. We appreciate your patience during this time of extended benefits. Once your application for extended benefits is processed, the weekly certification (claim) can be filed using either the Division of Employment Security's Internet site or automated telephone system.
