Statement on Federal Stimulus and Unemployment Legislation
Jefferson City, Mo- Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations Director Larry Rebman released the following statement:
"On May 15th, 2009, the Missouri legislature passed a bill that will temporarily change our unemployment laws to provide approximately $65 million to Missourians by extending unemployment benefits. In addition, my office worked with the legislature and the business community to include legislation that would expand eligibility for Missourians who traditionally would not have qualified for unemployment benefits. While implementing the unemployment extension, my office will work with the U.S. Department of Labor on expansion of unemployment eligibility to certify the law and begin drawing down money to provide Missourians with the resources they need to get back to work.”
