Labor Department Investigator Recognized for Excellence

Fraud and Noncompliance Investigator Wins Statewide Award

Jefferson City, Mo- The Missouri State Investigators Association (MSIA) awarded Stephen Doden of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations the “2009 Investigator of the Year” on May 21, 2009, at the MSIA annual award ceremony.

The MSIA is a statewide organization providing education and resources to various state, federal, and local agencies throughout Missouri. Each year, it recognizes one investigative unit and one investigator or law enforcement officer that has made an exceptional contribution to the field of investigations and the communities served.

“I am proud to have someone like Stephen Doden here at the Department who is willing to work hard for our state. He is well-respected among his peers, dedicated, patient and detailed when training investigators, conscientious, meticulous, and thorough when conducting in-depth investigations. Agencies would be lucky to have an individual such as Stephen Doden working for them,” says Department Director Larry Rebman.

Stephen Doden was chosen among other exceptional individuals to receive the esteemed award for going above and beyond the call of duty and for completing his workers’ compensation fraud and noncompliance investigations within an average of 73 days. The standard is to complete 75 percent of investigations within 150 days. In addition to his own investigations, he supervises one of the sections in the Fraud and Noncompliance Unit (FNU).

At MSIA’s 2009 annual award ceremony, Doden received a personalized plaque recognizing him as the “Investigator of the Year.” This is the second year in a row the Department of Labor has won such an award.  The award ceremony was held at the Inn at Grand Glaize in Osage Beach, Missouri.
